Escritora canadense Sheree Fitch encanta os alunos do High School com sua história e seu trabalho

Na última quarta-feira, dia 10 de março, os estudantes do High School receberam a escritora, artista e palestrante Sheree Fitch que, com sua história, sua sensibilidade, seu primoroso e delicado trabalho, envolveu e encantou a todos.

Captura-de-Tela-2021-03-11-a-s-17-48-53.pngSheree Fitch tem sido presença marcante e inspiradora nas artes literárias e na comunidade de alfabetização em todo o Canadá e em outros países, desde 1987.

Atualmente, é reconhecida como uma escritora inovadora, artista literária e palestrante inspiradora, cuja obra explora a condição humana. Seu estilo lírico lhe dá uma voz literária única em sua escrita para adultos e crianças.

Criando a partir da "terra da imaginação no país que é a infância", a singularidade e a voz de Sheree, suas visões, livros premiados e contação de histórias deixaram sua marca em duas gerações de crianças e famílias e influenciaram toda uma geração de escritores de Ecum Secum (uma comunidade rural na costa oriental da Nova Escócia- CA) e em muitos outros lugares, além do Canadá.

Como contadora de histórias, Sheree se apresentou em muitos locais, incluindo a Embaixada do Canadá em Washington, por ocasião das celebrações do Dia do Canadá; a Catedral Nacional de Washington e a Biblioteca do Congresso. Ela fez parte de um intercâmbio de artes culturais no México e em Cuba e representou a Nova Escócia em escolas internacionais no Quênia, Uganda, Tanzânia, China, Belize, Tailândia e Vietnã, trazendo experiências ricas de volta à comunidade literária canadense.

Como educadora, Sheree foi escritora residente várias vezes, sendo duas vezes no país do Butão, onde ajudou a promover uma literatura indígena para crianças butanesas.

Além dos seus inúmeros prêmios, ela também possui três doutorados honorários de universidades do Canadá por sua contribuição à literatura canadense e por seu trabalho como defensora da alfabetização e ativista pela justiça social, especialmente questões que afetam mulheres e crianças.

Captura-de-Tela-2021-03-11-a-s-17-50-28.pngSheree mora com o marido, Gilles, na fazenda Happy Doodle Do Hobby, em River John, Nova Escócia, onde administram uma livraria sazonal: a Mabel Murple’s Books Shoppe and Dreamery.

O ponto máximo de sua visita aos nossos estudantes do Programa High School foi quando declamou o poema que concebeu em abril do ano passado, em meio a pandemia e numa atmosfera de extrema dor, por causa de um atentado composto por tiroteios e incêndios criminosos, ocorrido na província canadense de Nova Escócia, entre 18 e 19 de abril de 2020.

Ela disse que “ele se escreveu sozinho, e não é um poema, mas um lamento” . Nesta tragédia, entre os mortos estavam dois professores amigos de Sheree.

“Num contexto de pandemia e isolamento, ao declamar este poema para nós, todos nos emocionamos, foi um momento de dor compartilhada. Ao mesmo tempo que nos identificamos nesse sentimento, nos sentimos mais unidos na esperança e na certeza de que há ainda muito amor”, disse a coordenadora do Programa High School, Sheila Leão.

I´m really impressed with Sheree. She is extremely talented but what enchants me the most is how sweet she is. Despite all the traumas she has been through, Sheree seems to be a happy person who spreads joy wherever she goes.
